CRSSD Festival: Guide to San Diego

Whether you're coming to see the Pop-Funk infused vibe of Chromeo, the falsetto vocals of Empire of the Sun, the laid-back tropical tunes of Thomas Jack, or the hard-hitting basslines of Aeroplane, CRSSD Festival and San Diego have something for you. Known for its beautiful weather and sunny skies just about all year around, San Diego has other gems that tourists (and many locals) don't even know about. Here is a list of the 5 most awesome things to do while traveling to San Diego for CRSSD Festival.

1. For those of you looking to imbibe:

Noble Experiment, 777 G Street, San Diego, CA 92101 (619) 888-4713

Still one of the best kept secrets of San Diego, is a speakeasy style bar called Noble Experiment. Hidden in the back of a Restaurant/Bar named The Neighborhood, this is probably the most unique bar scene you will ever experience. To enter you must travel through a hidden door that appears to be a wall of kegs. Entrance is granted by reservation only and it tends to be booked weeks in advance. Upon entering you will be impressed with the one-of-a-kind drink menu and bartenders who know more than a thing or two about the libations. If you can manage to get a reservation at this speakeasy, you will be glad you did.

2. For those seeking adventure:

Three Sisters Waterfall, 14850 Boulder Creek Road, Julian, CA 92036

Less than an hour away from CRSSD Festival, lies a wonderful hike in Julian that leads to a serene set of waterfalls known as the Three Sisters Waterfalls. The waterfalls should be flowing very nicely around the time of CRSSD Fest in March. The hike takes about two hours and upon arrival you will see brave souls who are willing to jump 40+ feet and splash into the small lake at the base of the waterfalls. This hike isn't easy, but those who are willing to take the challenge will be immensely rewarded.

3. For animal lovers:

The World-Famous San Diego Zoo, 2920 Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA 92101 (619) 231-1515

Any list in San Diego is not complete without mentioning the World-Famous San Diego Zoo which is widely regarded as one of the five best zoos in the entire WORLD. Here you can harass the camels by shouting "hump dayyyyyyyy" or be mesmerized by roar of a Lion. The park is huge and definitely an all day adventure, but the wide array of animals will leave everyone satisfied. Even adults can find their inner child by entering the petting zoo and getting up close and personal with the piglets and baby sheep.

4. For the night owls:

Bassmnt 919 4th Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101 (619) 231-9200

Fluxx 500 4th Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101 (619) 232-8100

Bang-Bang 526 Market Street, San Diego, CA 92101 (619) 677-2264

You will be sure to find encore performances by some of the artists playing CRSSD Festival at one of these fine San Diego nightclubs. BANG BANG tends to feature artists with a more housey feel such as Kygo, Pete Tong, Amtrac, and Bakermat. Side note, girls will be enthralled by the Ryan Gosling posters inside the women's restroom. Fluxx tends to feature electro house artists like Vicetone and DJ Snake as well as Hip-Hop artists like Big Sean and Juicy J. Bassmnt is a local favorite and features many of the biggest names in EDM including EDX, The Chainsmokers, and Eric Prydz just to name a few.

5. For those searching for relaxation:

La Jolla Shores, 8302 Camino Del Oro, La Jolla, CA 92037

At La Jolla Shores you can soak up all the beauty that the San Diego Coast has to offer. You can enjoy a nice swim in the pacific ocean, kayak to La Jolla cove and observe the Sea Lions, Paddleboard out to sea, or go Snorkeling in the protected Kelp beds of La Jolla. This beach will also be wonderful for those of you who enjoyed CRSSD Festival a little too much and just need to recover in the San Diego sun.

This list is by no means exhaustive, but should offer a starting point for those of you who are traveling to San Diego for CRSSD Fest and have some extra time. I look forward to seeing all of you on March 13th and 14th!
