Ever since his emergence onto the music scene four years ago, the only direction Martin Garrix has gone is up. At just 20 years old Garrix has officially been named the #1 DJ on DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 DJs poll. Not only is he the youngest DJ ever to hold this title, but he’s only been working in the music business for a mere four years. The contenders on this list are huge, just to bring to perspective how much talent this list possesses, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike got second with Hardwell coming in third. The full Top 100 list can be found here.

The Dutch DJ and producer has been in the music game since 2012, gaining worldwide fame in 2013 with his first solo release of Animals to label Spinnin Records’. Ever since Garrix has produced banger after banger with his sound consisting of a wide range of house genres and future bass. He’s headlined major festivals worldwide and has worked with legends like Tiesto, Afrojack and Dillon Francis, once again the kid is only 20 years old. Ever since his debut, Martin Garrix’s name has been seen across most major charts. In 2013 Garrix was the youngest artist to reach no.1 on Beatport, debuted on DJ Mag’s 2013 Top 100 with the 40th spot, jumped to number 4 on the list in 2014 and now holds the number one spot for 2016.

Currently Garrix is working on his project of releasing seven new tracks over the seven-day Netherlands music festival, the Amsterdam Dance Event. The event started October 15th, and Garrix has stuck to his word dropping “Wiee” the first day, followed by “Sun Is Never Going Down”, “Spotless”, “Hold On & Believe”, today marks the fifth day, and Garrix released his fifth track “Welcome” with long-time friend Julian Jordan. There’s only two days left of the festival, judging by the past five tracks the final two will not disappoint.

With just four years of experience under his belt, Martin Garrix has already claimed the title of the #1 DJ for 2016. This year alone he dropped an insane amount of original tracks all of which have seen nothing but success. We can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for this young artist.
