Toronto’s Hottest Club Said to Close

If you’ve ever been to Toronto, you’ve surely heard of the club The Hoxton. Located at 69 Bathurst St. this medium sized venue is notably one of the most popular EDM clubs in the north east. Huge acts such as Diplo, Skrillex, Zedd, Flume, RL Grime, and so many more had early beginnings here and called the place home. Besides brining in the many popular acts it did, The Hoxton was widely recognized for its support of the underground music scene. Sadly after six fantastic years, the club is said to be closing their doors.

As stated in Kevin Ritchie’s article The Hoxton to Close at the End of January, the closure of the club was due to a combination of several things. High rent cost, renovation costs, and changes of interest were all major contributors of its closing. Sadly, Kevin Ritchie also states that The Hoxton is not the only club that will be closing. Several other Toronto clubs have recently announced closures for many of the same reasons.

January 28th marks the final show ever at The Hoxton. Hunter Siegel, a Toronto native and Hoxton regular, will be headlining this final show. Though it’s sad to see one door close, hopefully another will open and revitalize the Toronto club scene much like The Hoxton did.
