EPIC had the opportunity to sit down for an interview with founder Vincent Rotella, and his Director of Operations Marin Padilla to discuss their experiences, the event, and what it takes to thrive in the industry, check it out below.
EPIC PRODUCTIONS: What is your first memory of electronic dance music?
Marin Padilla: I was still in high school and it was the weekend of EDC Los angeles 2010, I had met an older girl who had said she was going to EDC of course i followed (edc was all ages back then). I ended up going all weekend and never meeting up with the girl but it was the best time of my life, the awesome vibes and production were amazing. I even got kicked off the wrestling team at high school that weekend once my coach found out i was “raving”, but i argued my case and was luckily allowed back on.
Vincent Rotella: I remember my dad taking me to a Halloween festival back in the 90s when i was a kid and hearing the music. Also, I remember the “old school ravers” coming up to me and giving me beads and I guess, I was scared because it was Halloween, but at the same time I enjoyed it.
EPIC PRODUCTIONS: When was the first time you really fell in love with electronic dance music and the music scene?
Marin Padilla: Definitely was EDC 2010 , all it took was one immersive glimpse into the scene. The EDM community is simply amazing and accepting regardless of your background or situation.
Vincent Rotella: Oh man, I've been interested about it since i was a kid , but it really got ahold of me when i turned 18.
EPIC PRODUCTIONS: What is your experience in the music industry, and what led you to where you are today?
Padilla: Man the music industry is tough, but so rewarding once you get your shot. What led me to where I am today is definitely lots of hard work and sacrificing sleep to get out and meet new people ! Also my friends that have become family along this road have always been there when i needed them.
Rotella: The Music industry has kind of always been around me and a part of my life. What led me here is connecting with genuine people who I trust and constant networking!
EPIC PRODUCTIONS: Who are some of your favorite artists?
Marin Padilla: Oh Man , besides my own who i manage and love like brothers , I’d have to say my boy 12th Planet , JOYRYDE and this new mysterious guy K?d .
Vincent Rotella: Thats a hard question because there are so many talented artists out there, but my top right now would be Datsik, Excision , Liquid Stranger, Bassnectar and Calvin Harris.
EPIC PRODUCTIONS: What are some of your favorite events you have attended?
Marin Padilla: Oh Man all of the EDCs are always the highlight of my year. But shout out to brownies and lemonade crew and Space Yacht who have taken the event/party scene in Los Angeles to another level these past years !
Vincent Rotella: Definitely EDC but Im always down for a good underground warehouse party!
EPIC PRODUCTIONS Who or what are some of your biggest role models in the industry, including artists, industry leads, companies, anything?
Marin Padilla:My role models in this industry are definitely Moe Shalizi , Pasquale Rotella and my friends Jen Stein over at Red Light Management and Christina Boemio who is killing it at Buygore/ Slvyvll.
Vincent Rotella: My biggest role model I would say my pops I mean he's always made me work hard to get what I want. It's made me learn that I will never get things handed to me and to find my passion!
EPIC PRODUCTIONS: In such a tough industry, what motivates you everyday to continue doing what you doing?
Marin Padilla: The ability to do what i love for the rest of my life. Also from my Artist Manager perspective My Artists Kayoh/Aaron Jackson and Freefall keep me going everyday because I cant even explain to you how it feels to be able to help them accomplish their dreams!
Vincent Rotella: The people motivate me. When I close my eyes I see the smiles and happiness and everyone coming together dancing that is just so amazing, and it motivate me to know what I want.
EPIC PRODUCTIONS: You two run Dimensions Events together, but how did the two of you meet?
Marin Padilla: We met about a year ago through mutual friends
Vincent Rotella: Mutual friends, and ever since we have been inseparable! :)
EPIC PRODUCTIONS: What is your inspiration and story behind Official Dimensions Events?
Marin Padilla: I've always wanted to throw large scale events. When I was in High School I used to throw huge parties for fun just to do it! But Vincent and I wanted to give the Los Angeles Rave scene a fresh breathe of air, with a futuristic out of this universe twist, something that you couldn't do every weekend! Therefore Dimensions came along and brought along a solid team!
Vincent Rotella: I believe there more then us out there in this universe so dimensions help me make my visions and my imagination become a reality and being able to share to everyone out there with an open mind .When you step into dimensions my main goal is to make you feel as if your no longer on earth.
EPIC PRODUCTIONS: What goes into planning an event like Bass LA, what are you most excited about, and what stresses you out the most?
Marin Padilla:The planning is always the toughest and last minute situations but once we get past that it all, we kick it into high gear and the event is born! All the hard work and sleepless nights become worth it!

Marin Padilla: I kind of already knew where we were going with the line up , we literally brought the best up and coming Artists LA has to offer, not to mention Kayoh all the way from Baltimore. The venue was literally the perfect spot we were looking for a huge warehouse in Los Angeles.

Marin Padilla: CONSISTENCY IS KEY to anything in this industry , you have to keep consistently working , consistently moving forward and consistently succeeding even if its for a smaller project. P.S approach everything positively!
Vincent Rotella: being able to have your team work together and communication and my team isn't just a team they are like a family.
